| ITINERARY |
|
A representative of PIE PERU will collect you at your hotel early on and take you to the train station. Take your time to soak up the Andean terraces and Inca pathways, while observing the agricultural lifestyles which produce potatoes, cornfields and others variety of cereal all visible en route. The journey to the citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as the lost city of the Incas, will take around four hours.
You will arrive at Aguas calientes, where your guide will wait for you and together you will take a 20 minute bus journey, zigzagging uphill to the entrance. The excursion includes a guided tour of the ruined city, including the Main Place, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar clock, the Royal Rooms, the Three Windows Temple and Cemeteries. The visit will last a little more than two hours but you will have free time to walk around the citadel. In the afternoon you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, then the train back to Cusco before being transferred to your hotel, arriving at around 9pm.
